If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

Moving...again.....

We moved last weekend and I asked Jared to pack up the books and label them "books." He's great with puzzles and loading the dishwasher so I thought he'd be great with fitting books into boxes. He got a bit creative with the labeling.

This one's hilarious because my Mom actually fell for it thinking it was lightweight.

Yes, in Feb. of '07 I spent one month writing love notes to Jared...a WHOLE BOX FULL.
.

We are very giving.

The most incredible man!

WHY?

So many reasons that I keep safe with me:)

Emily has a birthday!

Emily has another birthday so we headed down to Half Moon Bay to go through the haunted house and haystack maze.

These guys were there also!

I was so happy to see Jared after being parted from him and freezing for the night. He was pouncing atop the haystacks of the maze searching for a good way to get out. (I totally beat him without cheating.)

Rebecca sneaking in photos.

Matterhorn revisited

Remember when we went to Zermatt to visit the Matterhorn. Well my grandfather is an artist and wanted to paint one of the photos I took (below.)

Then he sent me a photo of the painting he created from my photo. I love it:)

Nabisco Tins

Whatever happened to the Nabisco tins? I've been really into Ritz crackers lately but I hate storing them after I open the package. Why don't they sell the Nabisco tins anymore? Or do they? Do you know where I can find them. Especially the old Saltine (soda crackers) ones.

Homemade

I made homemade strawberry jam on Sunday (with the help of Jared doing the mashing.) It really wasn't that hard. I just made freezer jam. I need my mom around to teach me how to do the sealing jar thingie.

Homemade strawberry jam and wheat bread. What more could you ask for?

Playing around with aperture/shutter speed again

EmCox ROCKS!

My friend Emily brought me flowers yesterday. Why? Because she's just a great friend.

The cool kids are back in town

Adam and Darcie were back in town this week. We had them over for dinner last night. I wanted to try out a roast in the crock pot. Did I mention that I'm really into the crock pot lately? Anyhow, turns out when they arrived the roast needed about 2 more hours of cooking, so I pulled some frozen cod from TJ's and topped it with some corn salsa that I tweaked a bit.

I love the look on their son's Kjell's face. SO CUTE!

P.S. I am welcome to your favorite crock pot recipes. Please email me if you have any good ones:)

October is Spectacular

*800th Post

I've decided that I really like October. The colors are so intense and it means lots of delicious squash for me to pick. The other day I went down to Half Moon Bay with my friend and her 2 adorable children (yup that's me, always hanging out with other moms) to pick out pumpkins.

It's so great, you get a little wagon to pull your stash around.

I got the lumpiest pumpkins I could find for Jared and I to carve. Most of them were too perfect.

This one wouldn't fit in the car.

I love the trees by the ocean in Northern California.

My loot. I made butternut squash risotto last night. It was delicious.

My creative cousin

My cousin's wife has her website up and she is awesome, darling, beautiful, artistic, and just amazing.

Check it out!

Spices have arrived

Spices in Switzerland ARE CHEAP! So naturally I shipped them home on our sea shipment which FINALLY arrived. I've been dieing without them. I should have bought more.

In love with crockpots

Meat turns out to be so tender, juicy and delicious. Cooking right now: chicken breasts in white wine, oregano, s/p, crushed tomatoes, chopped up fresh garlic.

Fall Food

We had the missionaries over for dinner last week. I made a Quinoa salad with: cucumbers, tomatoes, cilantro, green onions and a tad of cilantro dressing from TJ's

I sauteed baby zucchini in oregano and cumin. Not sure if I like baby zucchini. It has a weird flavor.

German cheesecake and homemade raspberry sauce. I could make it because a friend of mine found some quark for me:) Thanks Travis!

Flowers From Jared

I love it when Jared brings flowers home. Especially when they're yellow.

This one snapped off, Jared was sad and I said, "have no fear, I have a solution."

Is it fall yet?

I'm a spring kind of girl myself but something that I love love love about fall is squash. I love all the fall/winter squashes. I can't wait to make butternut squash bread, risotto, soup and who knows what else this year.

I thought it was going to rain the other day...but it didn't. Remember how I hated the rain in Zürich? Well I miss it now.

I LOVE telephone poles.
