If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

Memorial Day

On Monday Jared and I hopped in the car and headed down to Monterey. It used to be our state capital back in the day.

First we headed to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I haven't been since I was about 12 or so. Jared had never been before. We learned that sharks are good and we need them in our ecosystem to keep it properly balanced. They really aren't as dangerous as everyone things.

Here's Jared surrounded by anchovies swimming around and around and around.

I love how this starfish is just chillin. It's totally laid back.

The Aquarium is located right on the bay.

I love the blues and grays of the sea.

I love these Lone Cypress trees. They are so beautiful.

When my Grandparents used to live in Carmel when I was younger we used to go down there all the time. This is a spot where part of Alfred Hitchcock's film Vertigo was filmed. Every time we drove through this area we'd yell out, "Vertigo!" and then we knew we had about 30 more mins until Grandma and Grandpa's house.

Ikea and Target

Jared and I headed to IKEA this weekend to continue furnishing out apt. We ate dinner there Friday night. This first shot is of Jared giving me a look of, "why are you taking photos of me eating my dinner?"

So his response was to take an awkward shot of me eating a french fry.

Jared was so great at steering the super annoying IKEA carts that have all four wheels turning in different directions so that you can't steer and you easily have a runaway cart and often have near misses with other people.

Saturday we headed to Target in search of cheap Beach Cruisers. They are fun bikes to ride. Their selection was sparse that day.

Saturday Night Date

Saturday after the relay Jared and I went on a date. First we went to buy a bed. That was fun. I almost fell asleep on one because it was so comfortable. I printed up a coupon off the website to get a free pillow with purchase of a bed. Well, we were lucky enough to get 2 free pillows because the guy was so nice...and we smiled a lot:)

On our way to dinner we saw some sort of a war veteran. Probably WWII.

We discovered a new restaurant. We just stopped on a whim. It was pretty good. We each got a salad which I squeezed lots of lime onto because I love lime.

After Jared and I went to see Shrek 3. I personally am not to fond of Shrek. It was ok. Actually don't go waster you time.

Relay for Life

Saturday Jared and I joined the Google team and participated in Relay for Life. It raises money for the American Cancer Association. We each raised ~ $100 and volunteered for a block of time over a 24 hr. period to walk/run. This one took place on the Stanford campus.

Jared got to do the surviver walk to start off the relay. It was great to talk to people and hear their cancer survival stories.

He got to trace his hand of the cancer surviver Hall of Fame banner.

Jared's new driving technique

New (to us) Furniture

Jared and I are slowly furnishing our condo. I really need to get on the ball and finish unpacking before he moves in. We got this set off of craigslist. I love the green. It's the tv and nap couch. I actually tested it out for a great Sunday afternoon nap. It passed the test.

It was interesting getting the couch up to our 3rd floor home. With the help of Jared's home teacher and my brother Sam they got it up 3 flights of stairs and only broke one stairwell light fixture which I happened to be standing under while holding the door open when the glass came raining down. I'm ok. The management company should be grateful to us for thoroughly sweeping every single step:)

Kool-aid

I had a craving for kool-aid last night while were were at the store. We had a kool-aid shaped pitcher and Jared added the finishing touches to it:)

The perfect spot

I decided to hang grandfather's painting in my bathroom so I will see it every time I brush my teeth.

BMX - motivation

Today a two BMXers came to the school where I teach. They do tricks and give a "motivational" speech about staying in school. It was pretty silly since they're speaking to an upper middle class private school where the kids take a million A.P.'s and go to ivy league universities. The kids kind of gave each other looks of embarrassment for these SoCal surfer dude bicycle hoppers. It took them 45 mins to finally do a flip.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day = good food, beautiful table settings and gorgeous flowers.

Ginger Beer to go in the "Pete's Party Punch for Pregnant Woman."

And boys bonding over NBA finals.

Tea Party

On Saturday I felt like "Alice in Wonderland" (minus the blue dress) and went to a tea party. It was fun especially with all of my good friends and my favorite colors, aqua and yellow.

Rechelle made delicious tea cup sugar cookies:)

My best friend Heather who I've known since 7th grade came also.

Another 3 generation photo.

The fabulous (as always) Amanda and Emily:)

I remember...

...when I was little and my sister taught me how to make cootie catcher. I was so cool at school the next day.

Where to put Grandfather's painting cont...

Hmmm...not sure I like it in the hallway. Just wait, there are still more options.

Bridal Shower Pt 2

My two cousins and two Aunts gave me a wonderful bridal shower last night. It was fun to see some people who I haven't seen for a while.

Delicious desserts and of course Aunt Kaye's famous mint brownies:)

My co-worker Cathy brought her 2 week old baby. I saw him the day he was born and it was neat to see how much he has grown in just 2 weeks.

Emily took lots of shots and surprised me with her smiling face. She's a crack up:)

Three generations of blue eyes, my Grandmother, mother and I.

Moving

I started moving this weekend. I opened one of the boxes and found Grandfather's painting. I still haven't decided yet where to hang it.

I started with above the fireplace. Too small.

Google Race

This weekend Jared ran a 24 hr relay from Calistoga to Santa Cruz. It's a 199 milerelay that he did with 12 Googlers. They are an elite team so of course they won.

Jessica and Angie joined me at 5am Sunday morning because Jared was fortunate to have the leg that ran through Palo Alto. We went to cheer him on:)

He's so fast that he's a blur.
We had to hop in the car and drive super duper fast to see him hand off to the next runner.

His team leader trying to get them to do a heel kick for a photo.

I picked up Jared in Santa Cruz. It was a beautiful day.
